§ 78-91. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Appliances means all stoves, heaters, hot water tanks, conversion units, and any other devices in which natural gas is used.

    Customer means any person, firm, or corporation buying gas from the city.

    Customer's inlet means the location of the pipe at the customer's premises where gas is delivered to the customer.

    Gas system means the transmission line from Transcontinental Pipeline Southwest of Danielsville, Georgia, to the Cities of Greensboro and Union Point, inclusive of all mains and extensions and distribution systems in the various cities and communities.

    House piping means the piping in or around the house or building of the customer.

    Licensee means any person, firm, or corporation who has been licensed by the city to install house piping and appliances.

    Line customer means any persons, firm, or corporation receiving gas service from the high pressure transmission line.

    Main means a line, part of the distribution system, that transports gas.

    Service line means the line from the main to the customer's inlet.

    Specifications means the standard specifications of Robert P. Grey, Consulting Engineer for the construction of Natural Gas Systems, together with the standards for the installation of gas appliances and gas piping of the National Fire Protection Association, Pamphlet No. NFPA No. 54 shall be complied with unless other procedures, methods, or specifications are specified in the joint gas board ordinance or these operating instructions.

    Utilities superintendent means the duly authorized person hired by the city to inspect house piping and appliance installation.
